In foreign countries where women do not have the same rights as men the best way that this can change is by disobeying these laws. Laws are put in place to keep order, but when these laws prohibit women for basic rights like going outside by themselves? They do not deserve to be followed. These ancient laws that people still follow are irrelevant in the modern day where progress is essential. Women need to stand up for their rights, to show that they deserve to be heard and listened to.

We believe that the only way to close the gender gap is to empower women. If women believe that they are equal to men and they fight for their rights then men will see that women are just as capable as men. The next question is, how do you empower women? How do you change the way men and women are viewed? We believe that if you inform women from a young age that they are just as good as any man, then they will grow up knowing that they are equal to anybody else. One example of women being promoted to being able to do anything that a man could do is the company GoldieBlox. Debbie Sterling set out to help empower girls to engineer. She knew that the majority of people thought that engineering was for men only. That's why she created GoldieBlox, a company that makes engineering kits for young girls.

To solve the problem of local gender inequality we think that people need to be more aware of this problem. We need to educate young people and make them aware of this issue because many people still believe that women are equal to men, that our battle for equality is already won. This is not the case. One way gender inequality is relevant to our local community is the pay gap between men and women. Women, on average, are paid 77 cents to every dollar that men earn. That's a huge difference, especially when there shouldn't even be a gap. If people are informed of this gap, and see how unfair it is then they will hopefully grow up and help to change this.
